LIONS PARK

Public BBQ

Lions Park delivers a compact riverside retreat beneath the Urunga bridge where the Kalang River meets dog-friendly convenience. The tiny sandy beach, complete with its own set of stairs, offers a proper swim spot for water-loving dogs, though owners of bolters should note the partial fencing situation, the busy road nearby would benefit from a few extra metres of barrier. What the park lacks in size it compensates for in amenities: BBQ facilities, picnic tables, and toilets sit across the road in a surprisingly well-organised setup. The gravel carpark under the bridge does double duty for visitors and boat-hire customers. It's enough space to throw a ball without feeling cramped, and the location works equally well for a quiet fish, a dog walk, or simply watching the river flow past. The kind of spot that proves useful facilities and water access trump sprawling lawns, though those with particularly adventurous canines might wish someone had ponied up for that last bit of fencing.
